Wiifarm Cooperative Society and the Factory Company, two indigenous organizations with an agricultural focus, are working together to create a decent hub and change Nigeria’s agricultural industry through the farmland ownership model.
The groundbreaking concepts were unveiled at the formal opening of the nation’s first rice distribution service hub and the introduction of a fractional farmland ownership model that targets at least one million members nationwide and spans an area of roughly 10,000 hectares.
Wiifarm Cooperative Society President Akhibi Onoke Akhibi recently spoke at the launch in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital, and stated that Wiifarm is more than just a cooperative, characterizing it “as a people- powered movement to reclaim our land, unlock rural wealth and build a technology and cooperative.”
He claims that the multipurpose farm was created to serve as the cornerstone of The Factory Company’s backwards integration approach, which links agricultural output to the transportation and processing of food.
He went on to say that precision agriculture, GPS-based land mapping, worldwide agronomic partnerships, and complete mechanization would power the endeavor.
Additionally, Akhibi disclosed that Wiifarm Cooperative is “targeting one million members nationwide through its grassroots campaign with tools, training and referral income opportunities built into its digital platform.”
“We are turning villages into economic hubs. This is not just farming. This is a movement”. He added.
Speaking as well, Madam Bertilla Nlewedim, the coordinator for Akwa Ibom State, stated that “WiiFarmCoop has provided a platform for Nigerians to participate directly and benefit from the country’s agricultural economy rather than just being mere onlookers.“
“The opportunity to own fractional units in commercial farms and earn generational wealth is indeed revolutionary.”
Additionally, Akhibi’s book Seeds of Prosperity: Reviving Africa Through Agricultural Cooperatives was unveiled to the public during the occasion.
